As the premier innovator in railroad scale testing, Rail Scale provides the required certified 80,000lbs “steel wheel on steel rail” for both industry and railroad owned scales. All Rail Scale equipment meets or exceeds NIST Handbook 44 and the AAR handbook requirements for certification and quality.

NIST Handbook 44 requires an annual test for all railroad scales used for commerce. The AAR handbook requires the same for all industries shipping on Class 1 railroads. Rail Scale can fulfill these requirements for your industry.

Rail Scale owns multiple self propelled railroad scale test cars, thus we test customer scales with them at their request.

Scale Maintenance

Acknowledging a potential conflict of interest between scale repair and calibration with certification and testing, Rail Scale works with your scale maintenance company to ensure proper certification of your scale. If customer mandates, Rail Scale will also provide maintenance services.
